High 5s in Caistor

Grasby pupils winners of the High 5.

Seven teams representing five primary schools from the Caistor area enjoyed playing High 5 netball at Caistor Yarborough School, Wednesday 17th March.

A round robin format was used with every team playing each other.

Caistor Grammar students umpired and students from Caistor Yarborough organised the event and lead the warm ups.

It took a little while for most of the youngsters to get used to playing on a full sized netball court but the quality of play improved as the tournament progressed and the enthusiasm from the teams was a pleasure to watch.

In the High 5 netball game, player positions are rotated every game therefore the players all have a chance to shoot, defend and play a centre court position.

Schools represented were Caistor, Nettleton, Grasby, Osgodby and Kelsey.

Joy Purkiss who coaches netball in the primary schools was also in attendance offering support and encouragement, along with Paula Hill, Competitions manager.

The contest was closely fought with exciting end to end action. The results of many games often being decided by just one or two goals.

Nettleton primary played really well to take 3rd position with Caistor A team performing superbly to secure 2nd place.

Overall winners were Grasby A team who won not only the local competition but also the opportunity to represent the Caistor district at the Wolds Schools Sports Partnership High 5 finals on the 27th April in Louth.
