Caistor Grammar and Queen Elizabeth Grammar Horncastle bring home the trophies at the County Rounders Congratulations go to the girls from Caistor Grammar and Horncastle Grammar who, after winning the Super Zone competition, went on to represent Coastal and Wolds in the County Rounders Final.
The year 7 girls from Caistor won all their games, albeit by only one rounder in the last match against a strong Sleaford High School team. This left the spectators on a knife edge as with just three balls to go one rounder was required to clinch the silverware.
With some strategic placing of the ball and superb sprinting the Caistor girls managed the win with a ball to spare.
Horncastle had two teams through to the final - representing year 8 and year 9. This final should have taken place in July but due to rain the event was postponed to what turned out to be a gloriously hot September.
The weather was a positive for Horncastle but unfortunately the year 9 team was depleted somewhat by other activities taking place which some of the squad had to attend. Nevertheless the team pulled together and played some excellent rounders and finished third overall. The strength of the year 8 team however over awed the opposition and the girls came away worthy winners.
We look forward to seeing the year 7 and year 8 girls defend their trophy in the summer term. |
